Definition of Multi Combination:
- Multi Combination (MC) – any B-Double or Road Train and
vehicles in HC
To upgrade to this licence class you must have held a Class HR
or HC for at least one year.
People who want this licence class generally are driving articulated
vehicles on interstate work. Can also be used on intra state and
local work.
To obtain a NSW heavy vehicle licence, go to a
NSW RTA Motor Vehicle Registry and:
- Provide a current photo licence or other proof of identity
that meets RTA requirements
- Complete a licence application form
- Provide a completed medical report
- Show that you meet MC licence compulsory requirements
- Pass an MC licence knowledge test
- Pass an eyesight test
After this, your licence application form will be returned
to you. Then:
Complete the driver knowledge test at a RoadReady Centre. When
passed you will be issued a learner’s certificate which entitles
you to start learning to drive a Multi Combination vehicle.
After these steps are completed we can then start the training
and assessment process.
All students are taught competencies as set down in the guide book.
This book outlines the minimum standard required, and our standards
exceed this requirement. Students are not only taught to drive a
heavy vehicle, but also skills such as reversing, hill starts, ascending
and descending steep hills, pre operational checks and load restraint.
All our training also involves a large proportion of defensive driver
skills for heavy vehicle drivers.
Canberra Region Truck & Bus School is an accredited
Heavy Vehicle Assessor in the ACT. Your driving test can be conducted
by us, as the ACT Motor Registry no longer conducts licence testing
for Heavy Vehicles.
To practice the ACT driver knowledge test, visit the ACT
Heavy Vehicles Sample Knowledge Test.
